FIGS
An abbreviation for the group of languages: French, Italian, German and Spanish.

Final QA
Final Quality Assurance is the last major step in any localization project. - For the localized software, a software engineer and a language editor perform final QA on the target version of the product. Their task is to examine all GUI components in order to verify that both the translation and layout are proper. - For an interactive structure, such as online Help, Web site or animated Web-based products, it must be verified that all active elements are functioning and context-sensitive topics have been presented. - For printed documentation, it is subjected to a meticulous examination by target language editors.

FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
A communications protocol governing the transfer of files from one computer to another over a network.

Full Match
A segment of a source text that corresponds exactly (100%) to a wording previously stored in the translation memory (TM).

Fuzzy Match
Refers to the situation when a sentence or phrase in a translation memory (TM) is similar (but not a 100% match) to the sentence or phrase the translator is currently working on. The TM tool calculates the degree of similarity (or "fuzziness") as a percentage figure.
