Globalization
Globalization (G11N) is a combination of tools and methods applied to software to make it work well globally. Globalized software thus includes the appropriate features of each target country. Globalization can be thought of as the sum of internationalization and localization: when globalizing the software, it has to be first internationalized and then localized. In other words, globalization refers to a broad range of processes necessary to prepare and launch products and company activities internationally. It also addresses business issues that are associated with launching a product globally, such as integrating localization throughout a company after proper internationalization and product design.
Glocalization
The word formed by merging the sounds of globalization + localization. This word means one or both of the following: - Creation or distribution of products or services intended for a global market, but customized for a locale. - Using Internet to provide local services on a global basis.
GMS (Globalization Management System)
A system that focuses on managing the translation and localization cycles and synchronizing those with source content management. Provides the capability of centralizing linguistic assets in the form of translation databases, leveraging glossaries and branding standards across global content.
Glossarization
Refers to the process of locating and translating product-specific terminology. All available materials undergo a linguistic review, then are compiled and translated to ensure consistency and fluency among different versions.

In the context of localization, a glossary is a list of source language terms paired with a list of corresponding terms in the target language.
Gold Master
A media (typically CD-ROM) containing the final software/documentation after quality assurance checks, and ready for distribution.
Graphic Manipulation
The processing and manipulation of images in software or graphic illustrations in the documentation, which need to be localized. This process may include translation of text that appears in images, formatting, and placement within the application/documentation.
GUI (Graphical User Interface)
A type of user interface used for interaction with a computer and based on graphics (icons, pictures and menus) instead of text commands. Uses a mouse as well as a keyboard as an input device. Employs graphical images along with text to represent the information and actions available to a user.
